Teen Story Writer
Summary
ChatterBox Theatre Society is looking for a number of volunteers between the ages 15 and 18 to participate in the Story Writing Summer Project during the month of August 2024. During this project, you will develop and practice skills in creative story writing, teamwork, leadership, communication, project execution, time management, following instructions, and respecting deadlines. The final children’s story created by you and your team, together with your names, will be published on the Chatterbox Theatre Society’s website. The story will also be considered for future productions in the children’s theatre.
This volunteer position will allow you to be a part of the community, engage in positive relations with peers and young audiences, and develop necessary skills for your future career.
Responsibilities
Work with 4 to 5 other students to create a children’s story.
Collaborate with other volunteers in the story writing process.
Participate, attend and contribute to virtual meetings.
Update and report to the Instructor during the process when necessary.
Receive and offer constructive criticism professionally.
Respect deadlines and deliver the final product on time.
Participate in open conversation with children in the community and your team during a virtual public event.
Skills and Experience
Interest in children’s story writing.
Ability to communicate and relate with young audiences.
Integrity, teamwork, respect, creativity and humour are mandatory values.
Commitment
4 to 6 hours per week over one month. This is a remote position. All meetings will be carried on Zoom.
